Dr Nikolas Gkonis holds a PhD in Medicine and Molecular Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, along with a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Biochemistry and Immunology from ELTE, Budapest. His doctoral research focused on gene therapy for sickle cell anaemia, contributing to early work on antisense oligonucleotides and liposome-based delivery. He later trained at North Shore University Hospital and the North Shore-LIJ Research Institute in Manhasset, New York, within the Laboratory of Experimental Immunology led by Prof. Nicholas Chiorazzi.

With over 30 years of experience, Dr Gkonis works as an independent tutor, academic counsellor, and mentor, specialising in IB Biology, Environmental Systems & Societies, and Sports, Exercise and Health Science. His guidance also supports students applying to medicine, life sciences, and competitive university programmes across the UK, the US, Europe, and Asia.

Over the years, he has helped students prepare for entrance exams, interviews, Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, and theses from undergraduate to doctoral level. His students have gone on to receive university offers, merit scholarships, full financial aid, and full-ride awards at leading institutions worldwide.
