Dr. Nikolas Gkonis holds a Ph.D. in Medicine and Molecular Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, along with a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Molecular Biology and Immunology from ELTE University, Budapest. His doctoral research on gene therapy for sickle cell anemia contributed early insight into the use of antisense oligonucleotides and liposomes, and he has trained in leading medical institutions, including Laikon Hospital and Manhasset Hospital in New York, USA.


With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Gkonis is a respected independent tutor and academic counselor, specializing in IB Biology, Environmental Systems & Societies, and Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SL & HL). He prepares students for medicine and life sciences entrance exams across the UK, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Singapore. Moreover, he guides students through application processes in the USA, UK, Europe, and Asia.


He has successfully mentored students toward merit scholarships, full financial aid, and full-ride offers at globally recognized universities. His support extends to Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, and undergraduate through doctoral theses, across disciplines such as biology, medicine, psychology, environmental science, and sports science.


Known for his academic precision and empathetic mentorship, Dr. Gkonis helps each student define and achieve their unique path. His current interests include stem cell therapy, cell cycle regulation, and sustainable biomedical innovation.
